On July 14, 2014 Rachel Contracting started construction for the first phase of the Lonesome Creek Gas Plant. Due to the unknown soil conditions, preliminary design drawings and aggressive schedule the contract was awarded on a time and materials basis. Rachel mobilized more than 30 pieces of equipment and associated operators with support staff to the project. Rachel’s project staff worked closely with the General Contractor’s and Owner’s representatives to establish the most cost effective construction methods and design changes while minimizing impacts to the project schedule and maintaining the highest level of quality. Changes were consistently made on the fly as the work progressed. The crews worked extended shifts to complete the work. The crews worked 14 hours per day and 6 days per week. Work on the project was completed ahead of the owners schedule which allowed for the next phase of the construction to start ahead of schedule. There was zero safety incidents on the project.
