The Bear Creek Solar project started with clearing and grubbing 16,664,094 SF across vegetated farm fields. To follow, topsoil stripping and performing mass excavation of 270,571 CY across 440 acres. Rachel Contracting installed 188,820 SF of aggregate access roads throughout the site. The Rachel crew also installed a new substation pad and multiple laydown yards covering 13 acres. There were 2 temporary sediment basins and multiple temporary sediment traps constructed due to the size of the construction site. Surrounding the site will be about 25,000 feet of chain link fence for security. With a tight schedule, Rachel Contracting completed all of the grading and aggregate surfacing work in under two months.
