The Deuel Harvest Wind Farm is a 300-megawatt (MW) 109 Turbine wind development scheduled to come online in 2020 in Deuel County, South Dakota.
Team Rachel turned a corn field into a 45 acre laydown yard for wind turbine parts near Watertown, SD. It may not look like much, but the amount of equipment and manpower it took to pull something like this off in such a short amount of time is quite incredible. In just 19 days, the field crew completed the following:
- 70,000 CY of topsoil stripping
- 100,000 CY of cut/fill
- Cement stabilization of over 73,000 SY of subgrade for crane walks, delivery routes, and turbine parts storage areas
- Import and placement of aggregate base
- 107,000 LF of Access Road Construction
In addition to the laydown yard, crews are working on the turbine foundation excavation and backfill, string roads and access roads for the 109 towers.
- Import and placement of aggregate base
- 107,000 LF of Access Road Construction
- Public Road Upgrades
