Rachel utility crews constructed Contract 2-1B, Raw Water MTL Pipeline, Intake to Zap Reservoirs which is part of the Southwest Pipeline Project. The contract is part of a larger plan to supplement water supplies from the Missouri River to areas in South and West North Dakota. Our project involved the installation of over 20,000 LF (almost 4 miles) of 30″ Welded Steel pipe across rural ND. The welded steel pipe product is mortar lined, tape coated, and required every joint to be fully welded with an exterior lap weld. This project has both sacrificial and impressed current cathodic protection that was completed with our own forces. On November 15th crews completed a 4 hour zero leak pressure test of 384 psi and with that test being successful the project is substantially complete.
